The long anticipated Premier Inn in Letchworth was finally delivered this month after a lengthy build on a tricky town centre site.
The architectural design is a contemporary take on the Arts and Crafts style of the Garden City and uses a mix of render, brickwork and clay tile externally together with zinc clad dormers.
Entrances face onto Station Road at the front and Openshaw Way to the rear, with car parking provided in adjacent town centre public car parks.Structurally the scheme uses a steel podium over the restaurant and reception areas with the bedroom accommodation formed using a cold rolled steel Metframe system.
Structural design was carried out by Simpson Associates. Construction was carried out by OHMG and QS/Project Management services were provided by Baqus. Town Planning consultancy was provided by Turley. The hotel provides 57 bedrooms together with a Thyme restaurant offering food and beverage and the location is a short 39 minute train journey from London Kings Cross.
