Allison Pike were briefed by Mitchells and Butlers PLC to design the first timber frame newbuild restaurant for their premium steakhouse brand, Miller & Carter. The construction method was selected for speed of build, environmental performance and buildability. Located in a suburban site in Berryfields adjacent to the Aylesbury Vale Parkway Station, the restaurant serves a new residential area of the town.
A well-known destination food venue on the Wirral, the Boathouse was acquired by Hydes Brewery in the recent past. While identifying that the site was in need of a refurbishment the client was keen to preserve and enhance some of the characteristics that have given the pub its popularity, while broadening its appeal and flexibility.
Hydes Brewery commissioned Allison Pike to refurbish their popular pub dining venue in Gee Cross, Hyde with a full interior design scheme of the ground floor public areas and garden.
The transformation took on board the best aspects of the converted mansion house and enhanced the internal flows and space usage with some subtle layout changes.
Built by Hydes Brewery before WW2 this project involved the conversion of a 1938 listed building, a rare well preserved example of a new build pub of that era.
Divided into three distinct rooms: lounge, smoke room and vault the individual character of each space has been preserved and enhanced. This has created distinct authentic customer zones in this community based local pub.
A challenging “island” site in Manchester’s Northern Quarter comprised a group of old and partly derelict warehouse and former public housing buildings. The design involved the sympathetic conversion and linking of there elements to form a new public house and boutique hotel.
The Public House bar and dining areas are split across two floors, accessed from a classic “London Pub” corner entrance with ground and first floor serveries and a linking feature staircase. Playing on the heritage of the area and the building, the spaces have a warm earthy feel with an informal “lived-in” character. Above this there are fifteen bespoke bedrooms featured recently in the Guardian.
Hydes Brewery commissioned Allison Pike to reconfigure and extend their new acquisition of the former Helsby Arms near Chester.
The design involved adding a large new orangery linked with sliding folding doors to a new dining terrace and beer garden. The orangery features a lantern light and contemporary ceramic flooring to create a light and airy dining space.
Traditional pub values are maintained in the bar areas which are centred around a high quality new hardwood servery with stone backdrop. The project was completed in 12 weeks and opened early December 2014.
